Exams: There will be three in-class exams and a cumulative final exam. Calculators will not be permitted on exams.

Exam Forgiveness Policy: All exams must be taken in class on the announced dates. If you take all three regular exams as scheduled, then the lowest one of the three scores will be replaced by your percentage score on the final exam, if this is to your benefit.

You will not be allowed to take any exam early or late for any reason. If you miss any of the three regular exams for any reason (even a really, really good reason), your percentage score on the final exam will serve as your score for the missed exam(s), and only the missed one(s) will be replaced.

Quizzes: Beginning February 11th, there will be a quiz every Wednesday unless there is an exam that week.  Occasionally, the quiz may be a take-home quiz rather than an in-class one.  Your lowest two quiz grades will be dropped at the end of the semester. If you miss a quiz for any reason (even a really, really good reason), that is one of the grades that will be dropped. No makeup quizzes will be permitted.  Calculators will not be permitted on quizzes.

Homework: Homework assignments will be given each night. I will usually not collect the homework, but I reserve the right to do so. Any collected homework assignment grades will either be included in the quiz grade or counted as extra credit.  For homework problems, you are welcome to use whatever technology you feel comfortable with (calculator, computer, slide rule, etc.) and are strongly encouraged to work with other students, come to homework help hours, and visit the math tutors.

Remember: In this course, doing the homework is absolutely required if you want a C or higher.  "Doing homework" means correctly completing the assignment, often with the help of the instructor, tutors, study groups, etc.  It does not mean looking over the problems and assuming that you could do them correctly if you wanted to.

Grading:

3 In-Class Exams
3 x 20 %
= 60 %
Final Exam   = 30 %
Quizzes and Labs   = 10 %
= 100 %
