When you sit down to use a PC or Mac, you probably won't need to turn it on. If the computer's green power light is lit, but the screen is blank, just touch the mouse or press Enter on the keyboard. The monitor display should appear within 5 to 10 seconds.

After a PC is started or rebooted, the Network Password dialog appears. Click OK or press Enter. DO NOT click Cancel.

At the Windows Desktop, you can access most software from the Start menu or by double-clicking the Applications folder icon. (If you have trouble double clicking, just click the icon to highlight it and then press Enter on the keyboard.)

Unless it's almost closing time, please leave your PC or Mac running when you have finished working. The monitor screens will blank after a few minutes of inactivity. After another 20 minutes or so, they switch to low-power standby mode to save power.

Here's the correct way to turn off (or restart) a PC:

*Click the Start button on the Task bar.
*Click Shut Down.
*If you are shutting off the PC, make sure Shut Down is selected. If you just want to restart, click Restart.
*Click OK (or press Enter).

Printing:
If you experience any printing problems, please seek the assistance of a lab aide. Do not attempt to fix the problem yourself.
The lab does not support printing on special papers. Do not try to load envelopes, stationary, or legal-size paper in the paper trays.
