College Archivist, Rudolf G. Schade Archives, Elmhurst College

Work closely with other librarians in order to provide efficient and timely delivery of library services. Supervise technical services staff members in the acquisition, cataloging and processing of both print and non-print materials, monographs and serials. Responsible for maintenance of material holdings in the library's public catalog, including regular clean-up of errors. Maintain library's link resolver SFX and federated search product WebFeat. Deliver general reference services approximately eight hours per week. Serve as library liaison for the music, theology and physics departments and the Niebuhr Center; responsible for materials selection and information literacy instruction in those areas, including the creation of Web pages of appropriate print and electronic resources for particular courses. Work with other librarians to create and deliver faculty development instruction and assistance in pedagogical uses of technology, particularly Web-based programs such as Blackboard. Work as College Archivist organizing and processing collections and answering reference questions. Supervised barcoding project of reference and periodicals collections.
 

1996-1997

        Technical Librarian Associate, Argonne National Laboratory Library System

Served clientele working in the areas of high energy physics, energy sciences, geology, and plant sciences. Selected and purchased materials in these areas. Supervised one library clerk. Worked with library user committee to determine annual serials subscriptions. Supervised library shifting project. Presented workshop to physicists on using Argonne’s electronic resources. Participated in the laboratory’s "Science Careers in Search of Women" annual program for high school girls throughout the Chicago area. Worked with other departmental librarians developing web pages for the laboratory’s research areas.
 

1995-1996

Reference Librarian, A. C. Buehler Library, Elmhurst College

Provided reference service for patrons at the college and community-at-large as a full-time contract employee through C. Berger and Company. Instructed patrons in the use of Illinet Online; assorted online databases and CD-ROM products including Wilson Indexes, ERIC, PsycInfo, InfoTrac, and MLA; and microfilm readers and printers. Maintained order in reference collection. Assisted in creating a location guide for Elmhurst Art Collection.
