  • Provides department/subject-specific library information literacy instruction classes contingent with ACRL Information Literacy Standards.

  • Provides reference desk service and research assistance for college students, community area residents, and reciprocal institutions.

  • Maintains resident computer information technology support for the library's entire wireless and Ethernet-based computer network, as well as administration for the campus's off-campus proxy server and content-management server.

  • Facilitates web page updates, Blackboard support, Departmental research requests, subject-based collection management and development, supervisor-designated projects, and various institutional programming.

Accomplishments, Projects, and Programs

  • Introduced Moodle, a free Open-source content-management system competitive with Blackboard, to the college faculty, serving as primary campus administrator and liaison for the platform, Winter 2008.

  • Researched and administered Pcounter print management software library-wide in Summer 2007, which was implemented to manage student, staff and visitor print jobs, reduce waste, and track usage levels.

  • Completed work on a new twenty-station Computer Cluster room, which provides additional equipment and applications germane to the Music Department’s needs, as well effectively doubling instruction/work/research classroom space for general student use. Opened Fall 2007.

  • Assembled and presented the 1999-2007 Faculty Achievements Display in the Frick Center with accompanying online bibliography and sample publications, Summer 2007. This display and webpage continues to serve as the college's sole institutional repository of historical achievements of Elmhurst College Faculty since 1999.

  • Assisted Sigma Kappa Sorority with their association website design, development and deployment, Summer 2007.

  • Selected for and participated in the 2007 Illinois Synergy Leadership Initiative, a three-session program hosted by the Illinois State Library with the stated goal of developing leaders within the library profession.

  • Joined approximately twenty E.C. in a January 2007 field visit to Istanbul and Ankara, Turkey, sponsored by a cooperative venture between Elmhurst College and the Niagara Foundation.

  • Researched and administered an off-campus user-authenticated database-access application (EZProxy) for remote student research usage. Direct responsibility for all EZProxy server administration, as well as troubleshooting and pertaining updates.

  • Created a new ciruclating media collection for student, staff and faculty use. Containing approximately 400 DVD and VHS films, is collect

  • 2004 to Present~ Curriculum design and instruction for a series of computer literacy skills classes taught at local public libraries. The curriculum includes the following classes:

    • Introduction to Basic Mouse Skills. Helen Plum Library, Lombard, IL: an introduction to the mouse interface for beginning computer users. 6 classes annually.

    • Introduction to the Internet I and II. Helen Plum Library, Lombard, IL and Elmhurst Public Library: an introduction to basic elements of the Internet and web browser navigation. 6 classes annually.

    • Introduction to Free Web Site Hosting. Elmhurst Public Library: an introduction to the creation and hosting of free-for-use websites, including graphic design and copyright information. One class monthly.

    • Introduction to Office 2003. Elmhurst Public Library: a series of classes providing an introduction to the use of Office 2003 applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Bi-weekly classes.

    • Introduction to Computers I & II, Elmhurst Public Library: an introduction to intermediate computer skills utilizing web-based software, PowerPoint, lecture, and hands-on experience with assessment. One class bimonthly.

    • Wikis and Blogs. Elmhurst Public Library: a class covering turnkey methods of collaborative web publishing. One class monthly.

    • Introduction to Office 2007. Elmhurst Public Library: a series of classes providing an introduction to the use of Office 2007 applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Bi-weekly classes.
