Elmhurst’s master of science in applied geospatial sciences (AGS) is designed for students who wish to advance their career in the geospatial industry or supplement their skill sets in other disciplines. The program prepares working professionals to apply geospatial technologies principles and visualization strategies to real-world systems and challenges in a wide variety of disciplines. The program also fulfills the educational requirements of the GISP (certified GIS professional).
The AGS curriculum combines coursework in areas that will develop your spatial skill sets and hone technical skills, as distinctly defined by the Geospatial Technology Competency Model (GTCM). Throughout the program, students complete an e-portfolio, take part in a research symposium and geospatial seminar, complete a geospatial internship and undertake a full thesis. Students also have the option to focus their studies around professional and personal interests by taking one elective in a specialized GIS subject, or may complete a project management course for Professional Science Masters (PSM) designation.
