The exhibit, titled “Visual Voices Project: Bhopal, India” will be open until March 18 in the Barbara A. Kieft Accelerator ArtSpace, located on the 200-block of Walter Street, behind the Mill Theatre. The ArtSpace will be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from noon until 4 p.m. and on March 16 from noon until 6:45 p.m.

A closing reception for the exhibit will be held on Wednesday, March 17, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. in the ArtSpace. Both the exhibit and reception are free.

In July 2009, the artists, all children, participated in a digital photography course funded by Elmhurst College and the Niebuhr Center and taught by Associate Professor Lynn Hill. The images displayed are the result of their class work.

On March 16, after the exhibit closes for the day, Elmhurst College will screen the movie Slumdog Millionaire as part of the College’s “Poverty on the Silver Screen” film series. The Oscar-winning 2008 film presents the story of a young man from the streets of Mumbai who seeks his fortune on the local version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? The film will be shown at 7 p.m. in Illinois Hall, Schaible Science Center. For those interested in attending both events, shuttle buses will run between the ArtSpace and Illinois Hall beginning at 6 p.m.
