Book & Lyrics by Howard Ashman; Music by Alan Menken; Directed by Frank Del Giudice; Music Direction by Scott Uddenburg; Choreography by Amy Lyn McDonald
Take a 1960 Roger Corman black-comedy, tongue-in-cheek horror/romance movie, hand it over to Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, the guys that wrote Little Mermaid, Enchanted, Beauty and the Beast and the current Broadway hit Sister Act, and the result is a musical of the same title: Little Shop of Horrors. This tragic/comedy piece places its rags to riches theme on Skid Row using musical flourishes of rock and roll, doo-wop and Motown.
