If you’re interested in a teaching career, you’ll have to go through a series of admission procedures and tests before you can be licensed—and even before you’ll be admitted to a teacher licensure program. Remember that admission to Elmhurst College does not guarantee admission to a teacher licensure program.
The fall 2016 cohort for Elmhurst's new elementary teacher education program has been filled. Applications for fall cohorts will be accepted starting February 1; spring cohorts starting September 1.
If you’re interested in transferring to Elmhurst, we encourage you to contact the Office of Admission or Dan Jares to learn more about working with your faculty advisor to register for courses that will help you prepare to enter the program.
How to apply for the new Elementary Teacher Education licensure program
All courses completed to meet licensure requirements, including general education courses, must be completed for a grade of C (2.00) or higher. Education courses completed more than 10 years before admission to the program will not be accepted.
Students who wish to change teacher education programs after they have been admitted must file a request with the director of teacher education admission. Admission is program specific and transfer to a different program may not be possible.
