Handshake Help Center

While we understand that you will seek candidates from specific majors due to the specialized technical requirements for some of your positions, we also hope that you will consider students from academic areas across campus for your hiring needs.

Students in all academic areas have diverse experiences, interests, subject knowledge, and skills that are transferable and applicable to a wide range of positions.

We work with students to encourage them to self-select into one or more employment interest areas. In turn, we encourage you to consider broadening the major/degree requirements for positions you post.

If you’d like more information on students in specific academic programs, please feel free to view this comprehensive list of majors available at Elmhurst University.

We’re confident you’ll agree with other employers that Handshake is a great way to manage your university recruiting. Please contact us at (630) 617-3460 if you have questions or experience any difficulty.

Internship Information

Elmhurst University works with employers to establish internships and mutually productive partnerships. Each year, more than 200 Elmhurst students complete academic-credited internships throughout the Chicago area, gaining skills and providing services to their employers.

Internships offer students the opportunity to explore an occupational field and/or work experience related to their career goals. As a four-year comprehensive college, Elmhurst students major in a range of disciplines, including the humanities, sciences and business. If they choose to register their internship for academic credit, they typically work part-time hours for a fixed duration.

On-Campus Recruiting

Are you looking to recruit students or recent alumni talent? Consider participating in Elmhurst University’s On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) Program or hosting an information table.

Requesting OCR

On-Campus Recruiting is offered to employers who are interested in connecting with Elmhurst University students to recruit for full-time job and internship opportunities. An information session can be linked to your on-campus recruiting date, or you can schedule a session separately.

If you would like more information or have any questions, please contact Christina Danno.

Requesting an Information Table

Information Tables are another option for employers who are interested in recruiting for part-time and full-time jobs or volunteer and internship opportunities. Tables are available in the Frick Center. Space and time availability is limited, so reserve your space early. Please review our guidelines:

  • Information Table must be requested no fewer than 10 business days prior to the date you hope to receive an assignment.
  • Please have alternate dates or times in mind whenever possible due to limited space.

If you would like to request an Information Table, please contact Alfie Chelette, coordinator of data systems and analysis.

Additional Ways to Partner

  • Students and faculty frequently partner with area businesses and nonprofits on projects such as writing marketing plans, conducting research or creating advertising campaigns. The students get real-world experience and participating companies get valuable insights.
  • Elmhurst University Career Fair
  • Mock Interview Events
  • Mentoring Program
