Admission & Application

Ready to complete your undergraduate degree on the fast track? At Elmhurst, you can finish a degree completion program through online or evening classes. We also offer generous credit-transfer policies and credit for life experience to help you earn your degree efficiently.

To apply, submit the following to the School for Professional Studies:

Students who wish to apply for admission to the online GIS certificate program should apply here. 

Applicants without previous college credit must also submit:

  • Official high school transcript or GED results
  • A Goals Statement (approximately 500 words) describing your personal and professional goals and how the completion of an undergraduate degree will enhance those goals
  • A current résumé

International applicants must also submit:

  • An official course-by-course evaluation, in English, of previous international coursework
  • Official transcripts including degrees earned
  • Proof of English proficiency, as evidenced by a minimum score of 79 on the Internet-based TOEFL, or 213 on the computer-based TOEFL, or 550 on the paper-based TOEFL, or 6.5 on the IELTS, or 77 or better on the MELAB

The evaluation of previous international course work must be done by a foreign credentials agency such as Educational Perspectives, World Education Services or Educational Credential Evaluators.

Admission Requirements*
To begin major courses in a degree completion program, you must have at least 30 semester hours of credit with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, including:

  • Two courses in English composition and rhetoric
  • One math course (college algebra or higher-level course)
  • Introduction to Psychology (with a grade of ‘C’ or better; NOTE: This course is required for pre-clinical psychology applicants only)

If you do not have 30 semester hours of credit, you can still be admitted to Elmhurst College and complete the 30 hours at the College as part of your non-major coursework. Please contact your academic advisor to plan your courses accordingly. 

*Program Directors reserve the right to admit students under the age of 24 who are qualified to meet the rigorous requirements of a degree completion program. Note: Students in the Elmhurst Management Program and Pre-Clinical Psychology programs should be at least 24 years of age.

Admission Calendar
For priority admission consideration, degree completion applicants should follow the preferred application deadlines schedule outlined below:

  • Fall Term: Apply before July 15
  • Spring Term: Apply before December 15
  • Summer Term: Apply before May 1

Non-Degree Study
To take courses without seeking admission to a degree program, register at the Office of Registration and Records, in Goebel Hall. To register for a non-credit certificate program, go to BlueNet, click on the link titled Register and Pay for Elmhurst Partners Classes, and then search for your course.
