SPE442 ~ Website Project Workshop

Remediation of Difficulties in Understanding and Applying Mathmatics ---

Guidelines for Website Project

You are to assume that you are a special education teacher (self-contained, resource, inclusion facilitator) for a grade level you choose, K-12. Most of the students you serve have a need in the area of mathematics. You have decided it would be helpful to students, parents, and fellow teachers to make a website that is dedicated to math skills, resources, activities, and manipulatives. This would be a place students could go to read about a strategy, play a game, or choose an activity to do with their parents. Parents and fellow teachers may use this site to find specific strategies to help with children/students that they may be helping. They could also use this site to find other resources (books, websites, etc.) to reinforce skills they are using with their children/students. Finally, this could be a place they go for more information or activities with manipulatives. Your project will consist of:

1. A website designed by you for students/parents/colleagues
2. Your website should be eye-appealing, without being overwhelming to the users.
3. Your website should be organized and instructional in its intent.
4. You need to include:
a. your name and who the website is for
b. Links to other math websites/resources - at least 5
c. A list of manipulatives that parents/colleagues can use to teach math skills
d. Activities that the students, parents, or others can complete to help maintain and generalized skills that the students are working on - at least 2
e. Homework or math tips for students and parents to help ease the burden of what they may be working on - at least 5
f. Strategies students may use to experience success with math concepts - at least 3. Be creative, you can focus on any aspect of math (one concept or a few), remember this should be user-friendly!!!
