My name is Allison Cebry and I am a junior at Elmhurst College. I am getting
my degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in literacy with
a reading endorsement. I am so excited to start teaching I look forward to
the days I get to observe my first grades in Hinsdale. Every time I go in
that classroom no matter the day I am having I insentalenly feel better and
my day is complete. I love the look and huge smile on a children's face when
they have been struggling with something so long, and finally this light
bulb goes on and they get it. That smile on the child is just priceless
and that is what drives me to succeed in teaching. Have you ever seen a rock
thrown into a pond and the ripples that radiate from the rock hitting the
water? A teacher can be that rock. I believe a teacher's job is not just
to teach the alphabet or mathematical equations, it is to instill in each
child the love of life long learning. I don't want to just teach, I want
to be a rock. I want to have that kind of affect on each child that steps
into my classroom.
