Why do I want to teach? There is no clear-cut answer to this question. Becoming a teacher was all I ever truly considered. When classmates proclaimed that they would become astronauts, firefighters, movie stars, and other glory jobs guaranteed to make you famous I said that I would become a teacher. "A teacher?" they had shouted. Wondering why I would become something that would not make me famous. However, I stood by my decision. I have always believed that teaching was the noblest profession a person could venture into. A chance to touch so many lives.
What do I believe about education? I believe that education is the key to a good and fulfilling life. This is something that children deserve no matter who they are and what their situation is in life. I recall once hearing that a person could be poorer than poor but still can have a mind like a palace. That is what education is all about.
Being a teacher
is probably going to one of the more difficult positions I will put myself
into in my life. Nevertheless, I will do it to make a difference in children's
lives. I hope to bring to the profession a person who is understanding, respectful,
and optimistic. Because an education is the most valuable thing a person
can posses, and children need to grab a firm hold of it while they are young.
