Michelle Lynch
Preservice Special Education Teacher
Welcome to my website! My name
is Michelle Lynch and I am a junior special education major at Elmhurst
College. I am looking forward to being able to put all I have learned into
practice eventually. I have many interests in addition to education. Some
hobbies of mine include; music, running and reading. I have played the flute
and been in band since fourth grade. Education has always been a strong interest
of mine. As I have grown professionally, I have developed my own philosophy
and beliefs of education.
Every student can learn. This is the backbone of my philosophy of education.
I believe that every student, regardless of their abilities, has the potential
to learn, it just takes the right person to release the potential. I believe
that I can be that person to release the potential to learn in students
with special needs. Students with special needs are all different
and they all have different needs. I beleive that instruction should be
completely individualized and specific for all students.
I believe that school should be a safe and comforting environment for all
studnets. Many students may not have a safe and comforting environment outside
of school, thus making it even more importatnt for school to be this way.
I hope to create an environment where the students can let some of their
stresses in their lives go and relax.
Keeping in mind what is best for the students is important for every teacher.
Actually realizing what is best for the student is the first step. The second
step, putting it into action, is the most important and most difficult.
Even if the lesson or strategy means more work for the teacher, I believe
it is part of their job to make it happen. I beliebv the main role of a
teacher is to help the student, regardless of how much work it entails.
