My name is Abigail Chillemi, and I am a junior at Elmhurst College.  I am planning on getting my K-8 certification as well as a Middle School endorsement, with a consentration on Math.  I strongly believe that teaching is the most rewarding job on earth.  I can't think of anything more rewarding than working with a child until they finally grasp that tough concept.  Every student has the ability to learn.  As a teacher it is my responsibility to educate each student to their learning modalities.  Each student in my room deserves the same chance to learn as every other student.  Some students may need more individual attention where others may need more independence.  It is my goal to create an environment where learners of all levels feel comfortable enough in their environment to take the necessary risks to push them to the next level.  Children need to feel safe in their learning environment in order for them to do the best they can.  They need to be treated with kindness and respect.  Children need to know that they are important and what they think is important.  Children hold the key to our future.  Today's children will decide what the world is like when I am older.  I feel that as a teacher I can influence them in many ways.  I will be a role model for my students in every way possible.  I will ensure that every activity is meaningful and that the students understand the meaning behind each assignment.
