Education and being an educator is something that should be taken extremely seriously.  When we learn, what we are

learning may seem trivial and insignificant, but this is certainly not the case.  We are constantly building on what we learn.  Every

new thing we learn can attributed to something we learned in the past.  Whether education is inside or outside of the classroom,

we are constantly learning, even if we are not aware.   Education is a life-long process that is very much taken for granted.  The

ability to teach and to be taught is a gift.  Without the ability to learn, the potential of human beings would never be realized.

Life would be wasted.  Education is a necessity that enables us to enjoy other aspects of life.

It is my desire to teach because all through my elementary years I felt inhibited and unable to express myself in the

classroom.  I feared the response of my peers and my teachers.  Teachers were put above students and the classroom was not

seen as a reciprocal community.  I intend to do the exact opposite with my students.  I would like to provide my students with

exactly what I felt I was deprived of as a young student.

Some characteristics  that I possess that will make me a good teacher are my persistence, my willingness to succeed, and

my patience.  I also believe that I  have a zest for knowledge.  This is an exceptionally important quality because teachers need

to be life-long learners.  Hopefully, these qualities will be what will help me to become a role model to my young students.
