Finding Books

  • Use Illinet Online to find books held in the Elmhurst College library as well as books owned by 65 other Illinois academic libraries.
  • On the search screen, you can browse by subject. Pick "Browse Subject" from the scroll down list, and enter a subject heading.

    Sample Subject Headings:

  • English Language--Rhetoric

    Persuasion (Rhetoric)

    Academic writing--Evaluation

    Critical pedagogy

  • Ordering books from other libraries ~ Illinet Online allows you to request books held by other academic libraries in Illinois. 
  • What if Illinet Online doesn't have the book I need? Request the book through interlibrary loan.

Finding Scholarly Articles

Full-text databases

Indexing databases (mostly citations, some full text)

    These databases include indexing for many journals in rhetoric and composition, including the Journal of Composition Theory (formerly the Journal of Advanced Composition) and Rhetoric Review (the library does not own these particular journals, but you can request articles from them and other journals through interlibrary loan).
