Using the Library Catalog (I-Share)

The I-Share Online Catalog is the library's book catalog. "Browse Subject" is one of the best ways to find book compilations of author-specific literary criticism.

  • Sample Browse Subject terms (Library of Congress Subject Headings):
  • sex in mass media
  • masculinity
  • advertising and children
  • eugenics
  • reality television programs
  • body image

There are several book series that deal with common comtemporary topics:

  • Current Controversies

  • Contemporary World Issues

  • Opposing Viewpoints

  • Taking Sides

To find books in these series on your topic, do a "Guided Keyword" search and enter the series title in one search box and your search topic in another search box.
  • If you can't find what you're looking for at our library, click on "I-Share Catalog " at the top of the page, to use our shared catalog, which searches 70 Illinois libraries. Once you find a book, you can order it from these other libraries by clicking on the "Renew Books/My Account" link at the top of the page and entering your ID# (your Jaypass barcode number).

  • If you find books that you need to order, do so as soon as possible! They take a while to come in (7-10 days).
