Article databases

  • ERIC ~A key source for education information. Allows users to access articles from scholarly as well as professional periodicals, in addition to ERIC documents. Many journal articles are available in full-text. However, to view ERIC documents, you must use ERIC's companion Internet website, or check with the Reference Desk to see if the document is available in microfiche.

  • ProQuest Education Complete ~ Contains more than 550 titles on education--including primary, secondary, and university-level topics--with nearly 300 in full text. Includes the indexing and abstracts from Education Abstracts, plus many additional titles.

  • Professional Development Collection ~Designed for professional educators, this database provides journal articles, many of which are peer-reviewed.
  • Academic Search Elite ~ Selected full text of journals in the social sciences, humanities, general science, multicultural studies, and others. An excellent general resource with lots of scholarly articles

How do I find out if the Library has the journal I need? 3 easy steps.

    1. Do we carry the journal's full-text articles in another database? Try Full Text Periodicals Available Online ~ search for the journal/magazine title, e.g. Renaissance Quarterly.

    2. Check Illinet Online for the journal/magazine title (not the article title) in print form, e.g. Studies in English Literature.

    3. To order an article the Elmhurst College library does not own, fill in this form: Request an article.
