Finding Books

Using the Library Catalog (I-Share)

The I-Share Online Catalog is the library's book catalog. "Browse Subject" is one of the best ways to find book compilations of author-specific literary criticism.

  • Works about Daniel Defoe- Browse Subject Words: Defoe, Daniel. You'll get a list of subject headings that will look like this:

  • If you click on Defoe, Daniel, 1661?-1731 --Criticism and Interpretation, you'll get a list of relevant books with critical essays relevant to that author. Even better would be a result that would be specific as to your particular work, such as Defoe, Daniel, 1661?-1731--Moll Flanders.
  • If you can't find what you're looking for at our library, click on "I-Share Catalog " at the top of the page, to use our shared catalog, which searches 70 Illinois libraries. Once you find a book, you can order it from these other libraries by clicking on the "Renew Books/My Account" link at the top of the page and entering your ID# (your Jaypass barcode number).

  • If you find books that you need to order, do so as soon as possible! They take a while to come in (7-10 days).
