Articles in Magazines, Newspapers, and Journals
There are a variety of databases that you can use to find articles.
For articles specifically on the Chicago area, try the following electronic newspapers:
- NewsIllinois includes selected
Associated Press and Chicago Tribune articles about or related to Illinois.
Available on campus only.
- The Chicago Tribune can be searched
from 1985-present; the content is full-text, except for the advertisements.

of journals, some dating back to the eighteenth century.
Look at the Finding
and Using Articles section of Information
Literacy for English 106 for information on the differences between scholary
and popular periodicals, and links to more general databases. You can also find
suggestions for material listed in the bibliographies at the end of book chapters
or articles on Chicago.
Once you've identified your articles, use Illinet
Online to determine if the library owns the journal in print or in microfilm.
Because there are also journals available electronically, you'll want to check
