Encyclopedia of Applied Ethics, 4 vols, 1998. Reference R 170.3 E56a 1998. In-depth articles on major issues in applied ethics. Articles include short bibliographies.

The Encyclopedia of Ethics, 2 vols., 1992. Reference R 170.3 E56. This work covers terms, concepts, ethicists, and schools of thought in ethics.

The Encyclopedia of Philosophy, 8 vols. and one supplement, 1972. Reference R 103 E561972. Longer articles on philosophers, terms, and schools of thought. Many articles include bibliographies.

The Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy ~ Articles vary in length and depth. Use the alphabetical index (it's easy) to find the term or person you're interested in.

The Oxford Companion to Philosophy, 1995. Reference R 100 O98. Brief (generally less than one page) definitions of philosophical terms; also includes information on major philosophers and schools of thought.

Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy, 10 vols., 1998. Reference R 100 R869.  Longer articles on philosophers, terms, and schools of thought. Many articles include bibliographies.

Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy ~ Lots of information on the topics that have entries. Many entries are not yet available as of February, 2001.
