Off-campus access issues

To access our databases from off-campus, click on this link on the library's main page (enter your ID and password when prompted):

Note: there is no printing capability for off-campus users. You must e-mail articles to your email account in order to print them.

When you click on the link, you will be redirected to a screen with a "Connect" button. If you have the correct software installed on your computer you will be able to click on the "Connect" button- if you don't have the correct software, the "Connect" button will be grayed out, and you cannot connect.

    If the "Connect" button is grayed out, you have 3 possibilities;

    1. You need a downloaded piece of software called a Remote Active X Plugin. You should be prompted to download this software. Accept the download and then try to click on the "Connect" button again.
    2. If you have Norton Antivirus installed on your computer, it can prevent you from accessing our site. You will need to call us at 630-617-3173 for instructions on how to bypass Norton.
    3. If you're still having problems and can't connect to our databases, try the link "Off-Campus Button Not Working? Click Here!" at the bottom of the home page.

Federated Search Engine

Indexing databases
  • CINAHL~ The Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health database provides coverage of the literature related to nursing and allied health. Includes consumer and professional-level information..Some full text (although there is no way to limit your search to full text only in this database).

    Full-text databases

  • ProQuest Nursing Journals~ More than 250 leading full-text journals in nursing and allied health.

  • Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition~ Selected full text includes nearly 480 scholarly full text journals, focusing on many medical disciplines.

So you found an article in one of our databases, but it's not full-text. Now what?

Don't fret. Look for these buttons: , or , or this line of text: (Find this resource with SFX) next to the article citation on the search screen. Clicking on this will take you to a list of our full-text sources that carry the journal, if we have it.

Online Catalog

I-Share Online is the library's book catalog.

You'll want to sign in before you begin to search. Click on the "I-Share Libraries" at the catalog search screen and then select "Renew Books/ My Account" and sign in. Once you are signed in, you can request books and have them delivered to a local library.

One of the quickest ways to search is to browse by subject. Enter a subject term (such as Nursing) in the search box, and in the "Search by" box, choose "Browse subject." You'll get a long alphabetical list of nursing subjects, and you can use the arrow key to toggle back and forth between pages in the list.

Searchbox

If you find a book that you'd like to order, click on the "Request" button at the top of the screen and follow the instructions. Under the option "Library where you will pick up item," pick the library closest to you. The book will be delivered there and you can pick it up with you Jaypass at no charge.
