Finding Books 

Use Illinet Online to find books held in the Elmhurst College library as well as books owned by 43 other Illinois academic libraries.

Sample Library of Congress Subject Headings:

  • Russia (Federation)--Politics and government--1991-
  • Great Britain--Politics and government--20th century
  • European Union
  • Europe--Economic integration
  • Political Culture--Europe
  • Fascism--Europe
Don't forget to account for changes in country names, or other complications. For example, "Great Britain" is the accepted subject heading, but works may also be described with the keywords "United Kingdom" or "England." There are also books looking at Russia before the Revolution as well as the current Russian Federation, while items on the USSR will be under the distinct subject heading of "Soviet Union."

Interlibrary Loan

Illinet Online allows you to request books held by 45 academic libraries in Illinois, if the book is not available here in the library. What if Illinet Online doesn't have the book I need? Request the book through interlibrary loan.
