Finding Information Using Library Resources

Articles and Databases

• PsycINFO ~ a comprehensive index to psychology journals, book chapters, and dissertations, among other items. Does not provide full-text articles.
• ProQuest Psychology Journals ~ provides full-text access to nearly 300 journals in psychology and related disciplines. Full page images are available; clicking the camera icon will open Adobe Acrobat Reader automatically. Available on campus only.
• PyschARTICLES - Full text articles dating back to 1996, covers hundreds of scientific, technical, and medical journals.

The two databases listed below also have limited coverage of psychological topics. The benefit to these databases is that there is some full text available; the drawback is that they cover both scholarly and popular journal sources. Be sure to evaluate the sources in these databases.

Journals

There are a variety of psychology and personality journals available through the library, both in electronic and print formats. The APA has a variety of journals available online.

• Annual Review of Psychology ~ this journal is available electronically in Periodical Abstracts from 1994, and WilsonSelect Plus from 1995. Volumes 24 (1973) through the present volume are located in the Circulating Collection, call number 150.5 A615.
• APA Journals ~ Includes select articles from the current issues of The American Psychologist and Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. Abstracts of articles from the current issue of The Journal of Abnormal Psychology are also available.
• Electronic Journals and Periodicals in Psychology and Related Fields

You can use Illinet Online to determine if the library owns a particular journal in print or in microfilm. Check Journals and Magazines Available Online for a list of accessible electronic journals. If the article you seek is unavailable from these sources, you'll want to request it through our online Interlibrary Loan article request form.
