Theories of Learning

  The following is a list of selected resources available in the library and on the Internet.

Finding Information in A.C. Buehler Library Resources

Articles and Databases

• PsycINFO ~ a comprehensive index to psychology journals, book chapters, and dissertations, among other items. Does not provide full-text articles.
• ERIC via Ovid ~ similar to PsycINFO, this index covers education and related fields (such as educational psychology). Does not provide full-text articles.
• ProQuest Psychology Journals ~ provides full-text access to nearly 300 journals in psychology and related disciplines. Full page images are available; clicking the camera icon will open Adobe Acrobat Reader automatically. Available on campus only.
• Academic Search Elite ~ provides full-text articles over a wide range of disciplines, from both scholarly and popular sources. Make sure that your article is from a scholarly journal, not from a magazine such as Time and Newsweek.
• PsychARTICLES - Full text articles dating back to 1996, covers hundreds of scientific, technical, and medical journals.

PsycINFO is the best tool for finding literature reviews. Limit your search and select "1300 Literature Review/Research Review" under Form/Content Types. Good sources for review articles include The Annual Review of Psychology and Psychological Bulletin, both available in the library. The Classification Codes available under the "Limit" option can allow you to limit your searches to particular subject areas (for example, "2343 Learning and Memory").

Once you've found citations of articles you're interested in, use Illinet Online to discover if the journals are available at the library. Journals are also available in electronic format; look at the Alphabetical List of Journals and Magazines Available Online.

You can request articles not available at Elmhurst College through an online Interlibrary Loan article form. Please check the card file or Illinet Online to make sure Elmhurst does not have the article before requesting it.

The Reference Collection has several books which may be useful; these include:

You can find both reference and circulating books on your topic using Illinet Online. You can request books not available at Elmhurst College directly in Illinet Online. You can also request books through an online Interlibrary Loan book form.
