Articles and Databases
The databases below all include coverage of several social work journals, in addition to covering other topics in social sciences. You will have the best results if you search in more than one of the databases on your topic. Each database also contains several social work journals in full text.
The library subscribes to several social work journals. Use Illinet Online to determine if the library owns the journal in print or microfilm, and check Journals and Magazines Available Online for electronic access to journals. If the article you seek is unavailable from these sources, please request it through our online Interlibrary Loan article request form.The Social Worker's Internet Handbook (library call number 025.063 G678s) is a book on Internet uses for social workers. It includes Web sites, email distribution lists, and discussion of legal and ethical issues relating to Internet use in social work.
A Guide to Internet Resources in Social Work is a listing of the sites available from the book Quick Guide to the Internet for Social Work. This site does a good job of arranging the list by areas of practice, and each site is briefly described.
Gateways to Social Work/Welfare on the Net - an article written by an academic librarian at the University of Illinois. This article is full of links to general guides, social work libraries, organizations and bibliographies.
National Association of Social Workers
Web Sites of Interest to Social Workers is a listing of many of the sites included in the Social Worker's Internet Handbook. This list was created by the publishers of The New Social Worker, a magazine for social work students.
