CHICAGO NEWS SOURCES

Chicago news is available from a variety of sources. Here are some options:
 

Chicago Tribune can be searched from 1985-present; the content is full-text, except for the advertisements. Available on campus only.
NewsIllinois includes selected Associated Press and Chicago Tribune articles about or related to Illinois. Available on campus only
Illinois Newspapers A list of some of the Chicago area newspapers that have Web sites. Many free online news sources, especially major newspapers, allow very limited access to their publications. Full access to all the news stories of a particular newspaper usually requires a paid subscription.

  1. Yahoo! Chicago - A great place to start when searching for Chicago information. There are browsable sections on transportation, community, news and media, or just use it as a search engine.
  2. Librarians Index to the Internet - This site includes descriptions and evaluations of Web pages and directories. Type your subject in the the search box to find web sites.
  3. INFOMINE: Scholarly Internet Resource Collections - Social Sciences, Humanities, General Reference - This site has a subject browsing area as well as a search box to find information on specific topics.

Learn Chicago - from the Chicago Public Library; includes bibliographies, a brief chronology of Chicago history, information about Chicago's mayors, Web sites about Chicago and for various agencies and organizations throughout the city

Chicago Architecture Foundation - an organization dedicated to "enhance the public's awareness and  appreciation of Chicago's outstanding architectural legacy."

Chicago Historical Society - see especially their Chicago Links to other cultural institutions, agencies, and miscellaneous topics
