Blackboard Hints
Blackboard
allows you to upload items that you may find useful.
-
Before uploading
items, think about how useful it will be to your students. Also consider
whether all students will be able to access. Some students may not
have fast Internet connections or the necessary hardware or software
in order to view an item. Make sure they are aware of this.
-
You can
upload executable files. This is handy if your students will need
to access a certain program.
-
Some of
the media formats that can be supported include GIF, JPEG, MPEG, Quicktime,
AVI, WAV, AIFF, and Shockwave Flash. MP3s are not supported.
-
PDF documents
(such as articles) can also be uploaded. However, any items must follow
the rules of fair use and copyright as established by the college.
See the handout Copying
for Teaching Purposes for more information on this topic.
-
Course cartridges
offered by Blackboard are not supported by the library or the college.
If you choose to use them, you will do so on your own, and the library
will not be able to provide much technical assistance.
-
In order
to ensure that your uploaded items are used for classroom purposes
as intended, make sure that your course is not
open to guests. You might also consider making sure that the
item uploaded is available only for a limited time.
