Create a Quiz

Quizzes and Tests can be used to measure a Student’s understanding of the course. Students take the Test online and the Test is automatically graded (with the exception of essay questions). Tests may consist of the following types of questions:

Multiple Choice Ordering
True/False Either/Or
Matching Hot Spot - indicate answer by marking a specific point on an image
Multiple Answers Jumbled Sentence - Users are shown a sentence with a few parts of the sentence as variables
Multiple Choice Opinion/Likert
Short Answers Quiz Bowl - Jeopardy! style questions
Essay Fill in the Blank

Please see Chapter Thirteen of the online Backboard Manual for many more options for assessments.

1. Log onto Blackboard at http://bb.elmhurst.edu.

2. Under Courses you are teaching, click the link of the desired course.

3. Click the "Control Panel" button (the bottom-most button located to the left of the screen).

4. To open the Test Manager, click Test Manager in the Assessments area.


Follow the steps below to create a Test. To modify a Test, click Modify next to the Test that needs to be modified.

5. Select Add Test on the Test Manager page.

6. Enter a name, description, instructions and click Submit.

7. Select a question type on the Test Canvas and click Go.

Create one of the following questions:

Multiple Choice Ordering
True/False Either/Or
Matching Hot Spot - indicate answer by marking a specific point on an image
Multiple Answers Jumbled Sentence - Users are shown a sentence with a few parts of the sentence as variables
Multiple Choice Opinion/Likert
Short Answers Quiz Bowl - Jeopardy! style questions
Essay Fill in the Blank

 

8. Enter the Point Value for the question.

9. Attach a file or URL.

10. Enter answers to choose from and select the correct answer.

11. Enter a correct response that the Student will see if the answer is correct.

12. Enter an incorrect response that the Student will see if the answer is incorrect and click Submit.

13. Repeat Steps 4-9 until finished adding questions.


Follow the steps below to make a Test available.

Step 1 Open the content area in which the Test will appear and select Add Test.

Step 2 Select the Test to add to this content area and click Submit.

Step 3 Select the Properties, Availability, Feedback, and Presentation options for the Test.
