Export Quiz Pool

Whenever you want to move a pool of questions in one course to another course, you have to use the "Export Pool" page in one course, save the data to disk or desktop, and then the "Import Pool" page in another course. In both courses, you will need to use the Control Panel/Pool Manager.

1. Log onto Blackboard at http://bb.elmhurst.edu.

2. Under Courses you are teaching, click the link of the desired course.

3. Click the "Control Panel" button (the bottom-most button located to the left of the screen).

4. Click on the "Pool Manager" link.

5. When the "Pool Manager" page appears, click on the "Export Pool" button.

6. When the "Export Pool" page appears, Look under the "1. Question Pool to Export" and use the scroll bar beside the "Pool to export select box. Click on the name of the pool that you want to move to another course. *
NOTE: You are not moving the actual pool but only a copy of the pool.

7. Click on the "Submit" button shown above to export the pool.

8. A window will then appear informing you that you are ready to export. You will click on the "Click here" link shown below to download the exported pool.

9. The "File Download" dialog box will appear. Click on the "Save" button to save the file on your computer.

10. When you the "Save as" dialog box appears, you should save the file in an easy-to-find location, such as your "desktop" or "my documents" area. Click on the "Export File" icon and then the "Save" button.

11. After you have saved the file on your desktop, you are ready to import that pool file in your destination Blackboard course. To do so, click on the "Control Panel" link in your new course and enter the Pool Manager. When the Pool Manager page appears, click on the "Import Pool" button.

12. When the "Import Pool" page appears, click on the "Browse" button to select the file from your computer.

13. Your computer will display the "Choose File" dialog box, which will automatically search for the file in the last location where you saved a file on your computer. Thus you may have to click on the "Look in" box to change the file location to your "Desktop." At this point, you should click on the "ExportFile" name or icon and then the "Open" button at the bottom of the dialog box.

14. The "Pool Import" page will then display the name of the "ExportFile.zip" file, so you should then click the "Submit" button to complete the process.

15. The "Pool Import" page will now display the successful receipt of the pool into your destination course.

16. Now that you have imported your pool to your destination course, you can return to the Control Panel by clicking on the link at the top of the page. You will then be able to enter the "Quiz Manager" to create a new quiz from the questions in the question pool.
