Blackboard 7 Changes
This major release provides a robust platform
upon which future Blackboard innovation will follow.
Release 7 of Blackboard comes with standard language
packs providing support for English, Simplified Chinese,
Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.
In addition to the enhanced foreign language capabilities,
Release 7 of Blackboard features a wide variety of capabilities
that enhance teaching and learning and enable it to
occur anytime, anywhere. Upgrades to the Discussion
Boar include a new user interface which will better
enable
searching and collection, and has options for statistics,
grading, peer rating, and moderating. Improvements to
Testing Options include enabling multiple attempts,
new self-assessment options, export and importing of
tests and surveys, and extra credit options.
Some of the rich functionality of this release includes the features below (links are for tutorials):
Blackboard
Backpack - allows viewing of content offline, automatic
content updates, and consolidation of Blackboard classes
into one package. Not required to use EC's Blackboard.
Multi-Language
Support - allows faculty to create the entire course
in another language.
Adaptive
Release - allows faculty to customize paths through
content.
Review
Status - allows faculty to request instant feedback
and verify that students are reviewing content.
Advanced
Assessment Questions - allows 10 new question types
and Question Completion Status.
Gradebook
Null Option - excludes untaken or ungraded quizzes
when calculating Total and Weighted Totals in the Gradebook.
Email
Functionality - includes Invalid Email notification
and Return Receipt instructions.
Virtual
Classroom and Chat - includes instructions for text-based
Chat and live/synchronous use of the Virtual Classroom.
