Printing from Blackboard Course Pages

Blackboard is set up using a web format called "frames." Frames enable some parts of the screen (such as the navigation buttons and header) to remain static while allowing you to scroll through other sections (for example, the course documents list that you may be looking at).

However, it can be tricky to print from frames. Sometimes, instead of the course document, you may print out the menu buttons. This is because what will print will be the last frame you clicked in. Here's how to ensure that you're printing the desired area.

  1. Log onto Blackboard at http://bb.elmhurst.edu.

  2. Under “Courses in which you are participating,” click the link of the desired course.

  3. Go to the desired area or document that you wish to print.

  4. Click on the frame containing the information to be printed. For example, if you're printing out a syllabus, click in the area where the syllabus is displayed.

  5. Print from your browser as you normally would.

Depending on which web browser you're using, and what kind of document you are trying to print, you may run into unexpected errors. Please see Differences Between Internet Explorer and Netscape in Using Blackboard for more insight into these problems, and some suggestions for working around them.
