Academic Search Complete
Provides abstracts from almost 8,200 periodicals in the social sciences, humanities, general science, multicultural studies, and others, with full text articles from nearly 4,650 titles. PDF's go back to 1975 or further, and almost every topic of study is covered.

AccessScience
The online version of the 10th edition of the McGraw-Hill Online Encyclopedia of Science and Technology. ACM Digital Library
Contains the full text of articles from over 35 ACM journals and magazines. You can also access conference proceedings. Covers computer and information science from the 1950s-present.

African American Experience
A rich collection of online reference works and primary sources documenting the African American experience for over 200 years. Includes over 4,000 interviews with former slaves, multimedia files, lesson plans and classroom resources.

American Chemical Society (ACS) Publications
Includes the full texts of more than 30 periodicals in chemistry and related disciplines published by the American Chemical Society.

American Journal of Physics
Full text from 1933 to the present.

American Mosaic
A collection of databases dealing with different American ethnic groups. As of summer 2007, there are two groups represented: African Americans and Latino Americans. Future releases will concentrate on Native Americans and Asian Americans.

ARTstor
A collection of nearly 700,000 digital images of paintings, photos, architectural works, sculptures, and design pieces from around the world from all time periods. Images appear in a separate window; make sure that any pop-up blockers are disabled before accessing this database.

ATLA Religion with ATLASerials
Designed to support religious and theological scholarship, this international database covers such topics as Biblical studies, world religions, Church history, and religious perspectives on social issues from 1949-present. Through ATLA you can gain access to full-text articles in ATLASerials, a collection of 100 theological journals.

Indexes any print resource containing biographical information on people from all time periods, geographical locations and fields of endeavor. 

Black Thought and Culture NEW!
A database for study of African Americans from colonial times to the present. Contains 1300 sources such as books, essays, articles, speeches and interviews, including previously unpublished materials.

Book Review Index
A guide to book reviews published back to 1965, with over 5,000,000 review citations from thousands of publications.

Britannica Online

CIA World Factbook
A Central Intelligence Agency publication providing country information: background, geography, people, government, economy, communications, transportation, military, transnational issues, and maps. Also see World Factbook in Credo Reference in order to compare data from different countries.

CINAHL Plus with Full Text
Covers literature related to nursing, kinesiology, and allied health professionals. Provides full text for hundreds of journals; plus legal cases, clinical innovations and trials, and drug records.

CLASE and PERIODICA
A combination of two different indexes covering Latin American journals in the social sciences, sciences, the humanities, and Pan-American issues. CLASE and PERIODICA accesses citations in over 2,700 scholarly journals published in Spanish, Portuguese, French and English. CLASE covers 1975-present, while PERIODICA covers 1978-present.

Classical Music Library
Classical Music Library is an extensive collection of over 50,000 recordings of classical music, focusing on contemporary classical music and women composers. Pieces come from over 30 music labels. Free registration enables users to create their own playlists.

Cochrane Library NEW!
The "gold standard in evidence-based healthcare," the Cochrane library is a collection of the results of the world's medical research studies, and includes the following databases:

Communication and Mass Media Complete (CMMC)
Covers a variety of areas pertaining to communication and mass media. The product of a merging of CommSearch and Mass Media Articles Index, CMMC contains the full text of over 300 titles in addition to citations to several other types of documents.

Communication Institute for Online Scholarship (CIOS)
Supports the use of computer technologies in the service of communication scholarship and education. Their web site includes a resource library, electronic conferences, tables of contents for current communications journals, the Visual Communication Concept Explorer, and much more.

CQ Researcher
Covers current and controversial issues from 1996-present. Provides summaries, analysis, and bibliographies. Limited to 5 simultaneous users.

Credo Reference (formerly xreferplus)
An online collection of over 300 reference books, containing the full text of titles covering a wide range of subjects, from art to technology. All Credo Reference titles can also be accessed through I-Share.

GPO Monthly Catalog
Contains records on all subjects of interest to the U.S. government, including Congressional reports, hearings and debates; judiciary materials; and documents issued by executive departments from 1976-present.

GreenFILE
GreenFILE is a collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles that include content on the environmental effects of individuals, corporations and local/national governments, and what can be done on each level to minimize negative impact. The archival journal of the American Institute of Physics (AIP), presenting significant finds in applied physics from 1931-present. 

JSTOR
An electronic archive of titles, often going back to the first issue of a journal's existence. Articles can be found in the following collections: Arts and Sciences I-VI and Complement; Health & General Sciences; Business II; and Biological Sciences. JSTOR does not include current issues of journals.

A wide-ranging collection of materials focused on the history and culture of Latinos in the United States. Materials include more than 150 scanned books, hundreds of primary documents, Spanish-language content, and lesson plans. Additional information on the history and culture of the people of Latin America, the Caribbean and the Iberian Peninsula is also included.

Lexis-Nexis Academic
Provides full text access to over 5,600 news, business, legal, medical and reference sources, including wire services, case law, broadcast transcripts and SEC filings.

Lexis-Nexis Statistical
Provides a wealth of information from 1,000 of the best statistical publications. Statistics come from a variety of resources, such as the U.S. Federal Government and the UN Statistical Yearbook. Provides access to the Statistical Abstract of the United States and the American Statistics Index, which collects data from federal and stage agencies and intergovernmental organizations.

Library, Information Science and Technology Abstracts (LISTA)
Indexes more than 600 periodicals in library science and information management.

Literary Index
An online index to the entirety of the approximately 130 print Gale products, including Contemporary Literary Criticism, Poetry Criticism, Drama Criticism, and Short Story Criticism. There are nearly 150,000 authors and 200,000 titles indexed.

Literature Criticism Online

MAS-Ultra, School Edition
Designed for high school libraries, this database provides articles from over 500 popular publications dating back to 1975. Every article is assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles). This database also includes book reviews, pamphlets, reference books as well as biographies and primary source documents, and an extensive collection of photos, maps and flags. Useful for Education majors.

MathSciNet
Covers the world's mathematical literature since 1940, providing Web access to signed reviews and bibliographic data collected by the American Mathematical Society from over 1800 periodicals.

MEDLINE
An international index to all areas of medicine, dating back to 1965. Over 10,500 titles are indexed, and substantial abstracts are included.

MEDLINE with Full Text
A comprehensive source of full text for medical journals, providing full text for more than 1,370 journals. Of those, more than 1,300 have cover-to-cover indexing in MEDLINE, and there are more than 1,400,000 full-text articles dating back to 1965.

Military and Government Collection
Offers current news on all branches of the military and government, including a collection of academic journals, trade publications and newsweeklies; also provides full text for almost 300 periodicals. Full text from 1975-present.

MLA International Bibliography
An international index to literature, languages, linguistics, film, and folklore from 1963 to the present. Part of Gale's Literature Resource Center, MLA can be accessed independently.

The MLS Union List of Serials
A listing of over 10,000 magazines and journals held by 173 libraries in the Metropolitan Library System. Use this source to discover what libraries carry a particular magazine or journal.

National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) Abstracts Database
Contains references to over 185,000 articles and reports on criminal justice topics; includes a few links to full text documents.

Naxos
Provides access to over 85,000 music tracks from the Naxos label and other catalogs. Users can listen to audio tracks of classical, jazz, world, folk, and Chinese music. Besides providing streaming audio, the database also provides biographical information on musicians and composers as well as notes on the music itself.

NetLibrary
A collection of over 23,500 full-text electronic books available to Elmhurst College students, faculty, and staff. To be able to access NetLibrary books from off-campus, you must first create a NetLibrary username while on the Elmhurst College campus. All Elmhurst netLibrary titles can also be accessed through I-Share.

New York Times
Allows you to access the full text from 1980-present. To see the full text of the Times from 1851-2003, go to ProQuest Historical Newspapers: New York Times.

Newspaper Source
Contains comprehensive full text of articles from 35 U.S. national and international newspapers, selected full text from over 200 regional papers, and television and radio news transcripts.

NoveList
A resource that assists fiction readers in finding new authors and titles, from a list of 155,000 fiction titles. Also includes book discussion guides and searchable award lists.

RILM Abstracts of Music Literature

Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy

Saskia Art Images
A digital repository of 30,000 images, which also includes references to 19 major art history texts.

Sanborn Maps
Our subscription to the Digital Sanborn Maps includes most towns and cities in Illinois from 1867-1970. The maps contain information such as the outline of each building, the size, shape and construction materials, heights, and location of windows and doors. The maps also give street names, sidewalk widths, property boundaries, building use, and house numbers.

ScienceDirect College Edition (Social and Behavioral Sciences)
Provides indexing to its entire library. In addition, there is access to full-text articles in over 350 psychology and social science journals for the most recent 5 years. Besides listing articles that are already in print, ScienceDirect also lists articles that are about to be published.

Scitation and SPIN
Scitation is a database that includes more than one million documents from scholarly journals, magazines, conference proceedings, and other special publications from prestigious scientific societies and technical publishers.

The SPIN (Searchable Physics Information Notices) database includes bibliographic records and abstracts for more than 1.5 million articles from major physical science journals, magazines, and conference proceedings published by the American Institute of Physics, its member societies, and other affiliated organizations. The SPIN database differs from Scitation in that it includes articles that are hosted on other online platforms.

Searchasaurus
Aimed at the primary grades, this database searches Primary Search, Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, EBSCO Animals, and the American Heritage Children's Dictionary.

SILC (Statewide Illinois Library Catalog)
A catalog of materials from many of the library systems in Illinois. Use SILC to find information about items located in libraries limited by library type or region within Illinois.

SocINDEX with Full Text NEW!
Contains more than 1,986,000 records as well as abstracts for over 2,500 journals, as well as conference papers, books, and monographs. Includes 708 full text journals, hundreds of books, thousands of conference papers, and 25,000 author profiles.
