2007 Faculty Achievements Display~ Every summer, the A.C. Buehler Library presents samples of the recent scholarship submitted by Elmhurst College's academic community in a display hosted by the Frick Center. It's not Your Parents' Comic Book~ the Evolution of Graphic Novels - The library has a growing collection of graphic novels and books pertaining to graphic novels. No longer ignored in the literary mainstream, graphic novels have evolved as a serious medium- topics encompass such sober topics as the history of the Holocaust or the World Trade Center Report, as well as traditional superhero fare. Feel free to check out any of the items listed on this recently updated bibliography.

Rev. William R. Johnson book collection - The library received a generous donation of GLBT books from the library of Rev. Bill Johnson, class of 1968, in the summer of 2006. Please check out some of these valuable resources.

Alumni Authors - Homecoming 2006 - A list of all of the A.C. Buehler Library's collection of Elmhurst College alumni who have written books. If you would like to be added to the collection for next year's display, please contact Elaine Page with information on your work.

2006 Faculty Achievements Display~ Every summer, the A.C. Buehler Library displays items in the Frick Center that the Elmhurst College Faculty has published, presented, created, hosted or exhibited in the preceeding year. The display will be visible for the entire summer, so that visitors and faculty alike can view the scholarship of Elmhurst College's academic community. Coretta Scott King Book Awards - As we mourn the loss of this Civil Rights leader and as we celebrate African-American History Month, this web site and display is full of children's books that won the Coretta Scott King Book Awards and information about Coretta Scott King.

Summer Music Festivals -Summer is outdoor music season in Chicago; visit the library to find online information about the various festivals taking place in the area, or to find a book for information about enjoying the music you'll be hearing.

Celebrate America! - Visit the Library's Fourth of July exhibit this summer and learn more about the American Revolution and United States' freedom.

1999~2005 Faculty Achievements Display - contains listings of accomplishments by the E.C. faculty between 1999 and May 2005.

15th Annual Elmhurst College Holocaust Education Project & Guestship - The 2005 Elmhurst College Holocaust Education Project events will be held April 11-22. It begins with internationally renowned Holocaust survivor Gerda Weissmann Klein's lecture entitled “All But My Life" on Monday, April 10th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Founders Lounge of the Frick Center. The lecture will follow a solemn Service of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m.

March is Women's History Month. Celebrate by reading a book that has a powerful female main character. Visit the Library to check out one these fantastic books!

African-American History Month - February, 2005 - Celebrate the history, culture and heritage of African-Americans by viewing the library's display and bibliography of books and web sites. Please look at the NCTE's official Sixteenth National African-American Read-In 2005 booklist. Please join us on February 16, 2005, in the A. C. Buehler Library for the African-American Read-In.

Graphic Novels - The library has a growing collection of graphic novels and books on and containing graphic art. Not just children's literature, graphic novels are a medium, not a genre; as such, topics can vary from romance to superheroes, from myth to music. Feel free to check out any of the items listed on this bibliography.

Children's Book Week and Family Reading Night - This display commemorates two events in Illinois this November. The first event is the annual Children's Book Week, celebrated nationwide since 1912. This special week, organized by the American Booksellers Association (ABA), is promoted under the intent of introducing young people to the world of reading. The second event is Family Reading Night, celebrated annually in Illinois every third Thursday in November (Nov. 18th in 2004). Sponsored by Jesse White, Secretary of State and State Librarian, Family Reading Night is "a statewide event when families are encouraged to spend quality time reading together." This website also includes a list of related book titles carried at the library.

National American Indian Heritage Month - The heritage of American Indians has been loosely celebrated by some states since 1915. In 1990, President George H.W. Bush issued a joint resolution proclaimaing November as National American Indian Heritage Month. Celebrate the heritage of Native Americans this November reading a book or exploring a web site about native Americans.

Motion Pictures: reading about and researching film - In anticipation of our new circulating rental movie collection at the Library this fall, we have created this web page and a main floor display to  showcase a number of literature and web resources on film.

1999~2004 Faculty Achievements Display - Every spring the A.C. Buehler Library displays some of the items that the Elmhurst College Faculty has published, presented, created, hosted or exhibited in the past year. This display, located on the main floor in the reading area, will be viewable for the entire month of May. 60th Anniversary of D-Day, the Invasion of Normandy - Join veterans, historians, school children and many others as our nation celebrates the anniversary of D-Day, an important military operation that helped turn the tide of the war in Europe.

14th Annual Elmhurst College Holocaust Education Project & Guestship - The 2004 Elmhurst College Holocaust Education Project events will be held April 19-22. It begins with internationally renowned Holocaust historian Christopher Browning's lecture entitled “Holocaust Perpetrators: Can they be understood?" on Monday, April 19th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Founders Lounge of the Frick Center. The lecture will follow a solemn Service of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m.

A Traveler's Guide to Mars -March 2004 - Following the recent successes of the Mars Rovers Spirit and Opportunity, and riding on the heels of President Bush's mandate to explore the Moon and Mars, we present this web site dedicated the enigmatic Red Planet. Check out our selection of Mars-related literature, and sample the web sites devoted to the fourth rock from the sun.

African-American History Month - February, 2004 - Celebrate the history, culture and heritage of African-Americans by viewing the library's display and bibliography of books and web sites. Please look at the NCTE's official Fifteenth National African-American Read-In 2004 booklist. Please join us on February 23, 2004, in the A. C. Buehler Library for the African-American Read-In.
