Opening Reception for Art Exhibit The Book of Fire, by renowned lithographer Murray ZimilesSunday November 4, 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. Founders Lounge (inside the Frick Center) The Book of Fire is a monumental work of lithographic art, dealing with the destruction of the Polish synagogues. It was previously shown in New York City, Miami and Sydney, Australia. Its month-long presentation at Elmhurst (the show runs from November 1st through November 26th) marks its Midwestern debut. Mr. Zimiles is widely regarded as one of the finest lithographers living. |
Campus wide participationHOLOCAUST EYEWITNESSES TELL THEIR STORIESMONDAY, NOVEMBER 5, THROUGH WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7: Dozens of Holocaust survivors and eyewitnesses will be on the Elmhurst College campus. They will interact with students and faculty. They will address classes. And they will share their stories. These special guests, with their perspectives and experiences, are at the core of this 11th annual Elmhurst College Holocaust Education Project. |

Begun in 1991, the Elmhurst College Holocaust Education Project expresses the College's commitment to build a caring and diverse community of learners, and to focus on the development of humane values and responsible citizenship. Central to this model are its interdisciplinary and interfaith components in the study of the Holocaust. Past Holocaust Guestship speakers have included Dr. Elie Wiesel (1995), Dr. Deborah Lipstadt (1999) and Dr. Marion van Binsbergen Pritchard (1992).
