Banned Book Week 2005 is a celebration of our freedom to read. Last year, many books were challenged for removal from our primary and secondary schools, our school and public libraries. Among those books that were challenged are: The Harry Potter series, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Chocolate War and Of Mice and Men. Fortunately, many of these book were retained and can be enjoyed by all.

Banned Book week is also a time when we celebrate the great literature that would have been lost to future generations because it was banned.

In celebration, the librarians at Elmhurst College have assembled a collection of books about book banning, books that were once banned and a collection of web sites. Please stop by the library in the month of September to view the Banned Book Week display.
