In anticipation of our new circulating rental movie collection at the Library this fall, we have created this web page and a main floor display to showcase a number of literature and web resources on film. Below, you will find a list of some helpful and informative sources on classic and modern cinema.
In our rental collection we have some films grouped by directors. To compliment our director-specific collection, we also have in our display some literary resources about directors: these are books devoted to the life and works of select, iconic cinematic virtuosos. Here are some the directors we carry works by:
Akira Kurosawa
Roman Polanski
Stanley Kubrick
Martin Scorsese
Ingmar Bergmann
and many more...
Please note: when searching for literary and web resources on film, it is a good idea to remember other ways to search for films. For instance, when searching our catalog by subject, use the term motion picture rather that film. Sometimes, film can also be substituted with cinema, another common term. Keep in mind that these (and other) terms are often used interchangeably.
For more information on searching for film literature, please consult The Film Pathfinder, a library resource designed by Marie Martino, Media Services Librarian, A.C. Buehler Library.

Senses of Cinema's Great Directors page (http://www.sensesofcinema.com/contents/directors/index.html) ~Excellent listing of biographical and other information about iconic film directors. Arranged alphabetically.
