Web Page Design and Creation

Learning About HTML (Hypertext Markup Language)

HTML is the language that all web pages are written in. When you use Netscape Composer or any other graphical web design software (like Microsoft FrontPage or Dreamweaver), the program is creating the HTML behind the scenes. It can sometimes be helpful to know how the HTML works even though you're using one of the graphical software packages.

Uploading Your Web Pages to the campus server.

  • Setting Up Your User_html Directory ~ You need to do this (or get help to do it) so that you can upload pages to the campus server. You only need to do this once.
  • Uploading Pages Using WS_FTP LE ~ How to move your pages from your disk to the campus server, where they can be accessed by the public on the Internet. This is a Microsoft Windows application.
  • If you don't have WS_FTP LE on your computer...you can download a free version for educators at CNET. (If you need ftp software for a Macintosh, browse this list of Macintosh ftp software at Tucows.)
