Chamber Ensembles

Saxophone Quartets

The Saxophone Quartet program at Elmhurst College began in 1999. The five to eight quartets give a major concert on campus at least once a term, and also perform off campus. Saxophonists often form close relationships from playing in a quartet, stay together for several years, and find chamber music to be the best way to improve musicianship. Participation is highly encouraged of everyone in the saxophone studio. Director: Roger Birkeland

Percussion Ensemble
The Percussion Ensemble was formed in 1993 with the goal of introducing its members to high-quality music written or transcribed for percussion instruments. The ensemble presents concerts both on and off campus. Director: Robert Rummage

Jazz Combos

Student musicians come together in small group settings to perform a variety of jazz styles. They are placed in an appropriate group after audition, and all the combos perform each term at the Silverado Grill in Elmhurst. Director: Doug Beach

Other groups include:
String Quartet
Jazz String Ensemble
Flute Quartet
Clarinet Quartets
Trumpet Ensemble
Trombone Choir
Brass Quintet
Tuba Quartet
