Author, political consultant and social critic Naomi Wolf will present “Citizen Empowerment 101” on Thursday, October 20, as part of the Democracy Forum lecture series.
Wolf’s lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel. Admission is free and the public is invited.
In 1991, Wolf galvanized feminists and gained international fame with the publication of The Beauty Myth, an international bestseller that The New York Times described as one of the most important books of the 20th century. Wolf later was a political consultant to Al Gore during his 2000 presidential campaign, advising the candidate on women’s issues and social policy.
Wolf speaks frequently on gender equality, social justice and the defense of liberty. She is co-founder of The Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership, an organization that teaches leadership to young women, and The American Freedom Campaign, a non-partisan citizens alliance whose mission is the defense of the Constitution and its system of checks and balances.
Wolf is a frequent blogger on The Huffington Post and writes cultural commentary for The Guardian, The Washington Post and Harper’s Bazaar.
