Gubernatorial Candidate Bill Brady Presents Ideas for Illinois

On November 11, Illinois state senator and gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady visited Elmhurst College to speak about the state's ongoing problems. His talk, A New Direction for Illinois, was part of Elmhurst College's ongoing lecture series, Fixing Illinois: A Great State's Problems and Promise.

A Republican state senator from Bloomington, Brady has served in the Illinois Senate since 2002. Previously he was elected to four terms in the state House of Representatives. He announced his third bid for governor of Illinois in June and has said that his campaign will focus on the state’s fiscal issues. As the 2010 Republican nominee for governor, he won 98 of the state’s 102 counties.

In the state Senate, Brady is an assistant Senate Republican Leader; the ranking Republican on the Senate Insurance Committee; and a member of the Transportation, State Government and Veterans Affairs, Agriculture and Conservation, and Environment committees.

He has been honored by such organizations as the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Civil Justice League, and the Illinois Farm Bureau for his achievements in the General Assembly.

In June, Elmhurst College launched Fixing Illinois: A Great State’s Problems and Promise, with the goal of starting an ongoing discussion about the challenges that Illinois faces, and empowering citizens to help address those challenges and move the state forward. Previous Fixing Illinois speakers include gubernatorial candidates Bruce Rauner and Illinois State Senator Kirk Dillard, as well as Illinois State Representatives Dennis Reboletti and Jeanne Ives, and political commentator Dan Proft.
