May 15 update: The petting zoo has been cancelled due to bad weather.
Friends and neighbors of Elmhurst College are invited to attend a petting zoo on the Elmhurst College campus on Thursday, May 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on the patio in front of the Elmhurst College Frick Center.
The event, which is free and open to the public, aims to raise awareness about poverty and ways to give hungry families the means to feed themselves and their children.
Sponsored by the Spiritual Life Council (SLC), the petting zoo will support Heifer International, a nonprofit organization that empowers families to turn hunger and poverty into hope and prosperity. The goal of every Heifer project is to help families achieve self-reliance by providing them the tools they need to sustain themselves.
Those attending the petting zoo will be asked to register. SLC will donate $2 to Heifer International for each person who attends. (Additional donations also will be gratefully accepted.)
