Scholar Todd Green discusses rising Islamophobia in the U.S. on March 12

Todd Green, associate professor of religion at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, will discuss Islamophobia and interfaith engagement as part of the Al-Ghazali lecture series at Elmhurst College.

Green is the author of The Fear of Islam: An Introduction to Islamophobia in the West, which explores the causes and consequences of anti-Muslim prejudice in Europe and the United States. His perspectives have been cited by the Council on Foreign Relations, the Center for American Progress and the Southern Poverty Law Center. He is also the editor of Islam, Immigration, and Identity.

The Al-Ghazali lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, in the Founders Lounge of the Frick Center. Admission is free.

The Al-Ghazali Lecture at Elmhurst College honors revered Muslim scholar and theologian Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali, who was born in Iran in 1058 and spent much of his life as a teacher in Baghdad and as a wandering ascetic. His prolific writings on religion, philosophy and sufism have had lasting influence on scholars from a variety of faith traditions.
