Break Period Housing for Residence Hall Residents
Residence halls are typically closed during Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring Breaks. However, residence hall residents who have a legitimate need to be housed during break periods (i.e., international students, out-of-area students and non-commutable student athletes engaged in post season or tournament play, and student athletes outside commutable distance for practices) may apply for break housing. The Office of Residence Life will work with the appropriate departments and students to ensure that only those who absolutely need to stay over the break periods are accorded that privilege. Residence hall students approved to stay may be temporarily assigned to alternative housing arrangements for the break period, or may elect to stay as a guest of an approved apartment/house resident.
Break Period Housing for Residents in Campus Apartments & Houses
Break housing is available in the apartments and houses to residents who request it. Apartment/house residents may host approved residence hall guests in their space during the break period. This online form is available a few weeks before each break period.
How to Apply for Break Period Housing
The online form to request break housing is available a few weeks before each break period at MyHousing through the campus portal at My.Elmhurst.edu. It must be completed at least 48 hours before the beginning of the break period. Specific details on the application for break housing will be shared at the monthly floor meeting held in each residential community.
