Residential students at Elmhurst have unlimited opportunities to get involved. By taking on a leadership position in your residence hall you'll develop important skills, meet new people and make a difference in your college community. Hall governments are student-led organizations that sponsor events and promote the development of students and their communities. Each hall's government meets on a regular basis and plans programs such as scavenger hunts, theme dances, building Olympics, band showcases, community service projects and barbecues. Participating in hall government builds students' leadership, programming and interpersonal skills. See your Resident Adviser, Head Resident, Residence Life Coordinator, or your Assistant Director for more details.
Residence Hall Association (RHA)
The RHA is an organization composed of representatives from all six residence halls. RHA members participate in fundraising, make recommendations regarding residence life policy and plan programming for the entire residence community. To get involved, contact your Head Resident, Residence Life Coordinator or Assistant Director.
Conference Housing Assistant (CHA)
CHA staff work with a wide variety of organizations that use the College's facilities over the summer. Students in this live-in, paid summertime position develop valuable customer service skills and live on campus for the duration of the job.
Peer Review Board (PRB)
The PRB hears judicial cases involving policy violations that occur within the residence halls. Board members help establish community expectations and standards from a peer point of view. To apply, you need to be a residential student, be in good standing with the College, and have sophomore standing or higher. by by September 13, 2013
Resident Adviser (RA)
The RA staff plan and implement social and educational programs, foster a sense of community among residents, develop leadership skills, and promote a well-balanced and healthy environment in the residence halls, apartments and houses. RAs also represent the Office of Residence Life at many College functions, including orientation and recruitment of prospective students. RAs have the most frequent and direct communication with resident students.
Summer Resident Adviser (SRA)
The SRA is the Resident Adviser's job during the Summer Term.
LeaderShape - an opportunity for both residential and commuter students
The LeaderShape Institute is a six-day leadership development experience for undergraduate students. Participants focus on bringing their personal vision to reality, while exploring their personal values, issues of integrity and power, along with coalition building. Undergraduate students who will return to campus for the next academic year and who have at least a 2.5 GPA are invited to apply. For more information, visit LeaderShape Institute at Elmhurst College.
