Pat Rubio Goldsmith examines issues related to Mexican migration and immigration status, and racial and ethnic inequality in educational outcomes. Goldsmith is an associate professor of sociology at Texas A&M University, and the founding director of the Latino/a and Mexican American Studies Program. His research has appeared in scholarly journals such as the Sociology of Education, American Educational Research Journal, Urban Studies, and Aztlan: A Journal of Chicago Studies
