Women's Care

Health care involved with women’s reproductive health is called gynecology. Every woman, regardless of sexual orientation, marital status or sexual activity should have an annual exam every year after age 21.

Annual Exam
An annual exam includes the following: history, physical, breast exam, pelvic exam, tests for sexually transmitted infections, and education. Pap smears may be obtained every other year, depending on your own specific health history.

Before you come in for your appointment, please print out and complete the Gynecologic Health History form.

For more information, see Your First Pelvic Exam or Pap Test.

Contraceptive Counseling
Students may discuss the various methods of contraception available, including emergency contraception. Several oral contraceptives are available through the Wellness Center at nominal cost. These include: Depo Provera Quarterly Injections, Microgestin 1/20, Necon 1/35, Solia, Sronyx and Trinessa.

Students desiring intrauterine devices, diaphragms, or Implanon may obtain a referral to an area obstetrician/gynecologist who would be able to provide this service.
