Exams: There will be three in-class exams and a cumulative final exam. Calculators will not be permitted on exams.

Exam Forgiveness Policy: All exams must be taken in class on the announced dates. If you take all three regular exams as scheduled, then the lowest one of the three scores will be replaced by your percentage score on the final exam, if this is to your benefit.

You will not be allowed to take any exam early or late for any reason. If you miss any one of the three regular exams for any reason, your percentage score on the final exam will serve as your score for the missed exam, and only the missed one will be replaced.

Quizzes: Beginning Jan. 30th, there will be a quiz every Wednesday unless there is an exam that week. Your lowest two quiz grades will be dropped at the end of the semester. If you miss a quiz for any reason, that is one of the grades that will be dropped. Calculators will not be permitted on quizzes.

Homework: Homework assignments will be given each night. I will usually not collect the homework. For homework problems, you are welcome to use whatever technology you feel comfortable with (calculator, computer, slide rule, etc.) and are strongly encouraged to work with other students, come to homework help hours, and visit the math tutors.

Remember: Students who do the homework conscientiously and ask for help whenever they have any questions almost always do better than those who do not. The amount of effort you put into keeping up with the material and preparing yourself for exams is likely to contribute more to your grade than innate mathematical ability in the long run.

Grading:

3 In-Class Exams
3 ´ 20 %
= 60 %
Final Exam   = 30 %
Quizzes   = 10 %
= 100 %
