Optional Technology:  Statistics/Graphing Calculator

Instructor: Dr. Abigail Hoit.       ( Office hours are  listed on instructor's webpage.)

Exams: There will be three in-class exams and a cumulative final exam.

Exam Forgiveness Policy: All exams must be taken in class on the announced dates (tentatively scheduled for March 3, April 7 and May 5) and any exam or part of an exam that is designated as "take-home" must be turned in by the due date. If you take all regular exams as scheduled, then the lowest one of the two scores will be replaced by your percentage score on the final exam, if this is to your benefit.  If all or part of an exam is designated as "take-home", then you are responsible for making sure you are clear about the corresponding due date and the expectations regarding academic integrity.

You will not be allowed to take any exam early or late for any reason (even a really, really, really good reason). If you miss any of the regular exams, your percentage score on the final exam will serve as your score for the missed exam(s), and only the missed one(s) will be replaced.

Quizzes: Beginning February 10th, there will be a quiz almost every Wednesday. If you miss a quiz, you will receive a 0 for that quiz. No makeup quizzes will be permitted for any reason (even a really, really, really good reason). Your lowest two quiz grades will be dropped at the end of the semester.  If all or part of a quiz is designated as "take-home", then you are responsible for making sure you are clear about the corresponding due date and the expectations regarding academic integrity.

Projects:  There will be at least one project to be completed outside of class.  It will be an application of the statistical methods that you will learn this semester.

Homework: Homework will be assigned at most class meetings. I will usually not collect the homework, but I reserve the right to do so. Any collected homework assignment grades will either be included in the quiz grade.  For homework problems, you are welcome to use whatever technology you feel comfortable with and are strongly encouraged to work with other students, come to homework help hours, and visit the math tutors.

Academic Integrity: Students are expected to be familiar with the Code of Academic Integrity in the Elmhurst College E-book and also with the statement posted at http://www.elmhurst.edu/~mth/acadint.html .
